Dunvegan Groundworks Ltd is a private limited family run company, based on the beautiful Isle of Skye in Scotland. So, we are experts on dealing on what the weather can throw at us at any time.

DGL is the sister company of Dunvegan Plant which was formed in 2020, by Peter Armitage. Starting with 1 digger and 2 team members we have gone from strength to strength.

Now with a work force of over 35 local personnel and various different sizes of plant equipment, we are able to offer a wide range of support and hiring options.

We are still very much a family run business and focused on customer service & satisfaction, health & safety on all sites and sustainable development within the company.

Peter Armitage - Owner & Director

“A builders duty is to turn dreams into reality”

Owner and Director Peter Armitage was born and raised on the Isle of Skye, where his interest in machinery began at a young age while working on the family croft. His hands-on curiosity—often taking tractors apart and rebuilding them—naturally developed into a career in plant and groundworks.

From these early foundations, Dunvegan Plant Contracting Ltd was formed, initially focusing on house driveways, groundworks, and drainage. The company soon expanded, providing general groundworks and servicing support for Mowi, as well as supplying machinery, civil works, and labour to RJ McLeod. With growing demand and a strong local reputation, the time was right to broaden the business.

In 2025, Dunvegan Groundworks Ltd was established. The company now employs more than 35 local staff, supported by ongoing professional training and development. Today, Dunvegan Groundworks stands as a progressive and highly respected Skye-based business, committed to delivering dependable services across the region.
